Our tutors

Our Law tutors (Associate Lecturers) are established university law lecturers, solicitors and barristers but, whatever their background, they all have at least one thing in common: a commitment and interest in teaching law.

If you are interested in teaching Law at The Open University, you can find out more on the Teaching with the OU website.

You can get a flavour of the different people who tutor law students with us by viewing their testimonials below.

Arj Arul

I really enjoy bringing my experiences from the real world of legal practice to my teaching and bringing to life the modules which I tutor. This was a key part of why I became involved in teaching and adding value to students’ experiences is what keeps me going.

Jennifer Ang

Teaching at the OU has been such an important part of my life, and my OU colleagues have been a valued part of my network throughout my varied career. My students have also taught me so much over the years, and have shaped, inspired and challenged me, in ways that they may not appreciate!

Mariza Avgeri

I enjoy working at the OU in an inclusive diverse environment fostering knowledge.

Dr Francine Baker

The Open University provides a flexible means of teaching and learning coupled with an inclusive and caring environment for students and teachers, that is unique.

I love teaching at the OU, and I strive to inspire my learners to be the best that they can be; to watch them develop and grow in confidence is fantastic!

I was led to teach at the OU because of the shared vision and values: to reach more students with life-changing learning that meets their needs and enriches society, coupled with being inclusive, innovative, and responsive.

Dr Dave Filipović-Carter
