I have been an associate lecturer with the Open University for twenty years and currently tutor W212 (Contract), W322 (Property and Private Client) and W360 (Justice in Action). I have also worked over the years on undergraduate, postgraduate and vocational courses with other institutions. This has included the Legal Practice Course and Solicitors’ Qualifying Examination as well as work with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
I am a qualified solicitor with a wide-ranging background including general contract, employment, business and property disputes. I run a busy solicitors’ firm in Oxford specialising in dispute resolution and general business work.
I have really enjoyed bringing my experiences from the real world of legal practice to my teaching and bringing to life the modules which I tutor. This was a key part of why I became involved in teaching and adding value to students’ experiences is what keeps me going.
I am a strong advocate of pro bono work and the importance which this has in achieving social justice. I hold volunteer roles including with the Citizens Advice Bureau and encourage all those studying law to get involved with these types of initiatives where possible. This can be a great complement to your studies and allows you to make a great contribution to society using the knowledge you have gained.
