Research Group on Human and Labour Rights

This research group provides a platform for colleagues across the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) who have an interest in labour and human rights issues to discuss work-in-progress, identify shared research interests, and explore opportunities for potential collaboration. It aims to encourage interdisciplinary research within FBL and create opportunities for collaboration with organisations beyond the OU. Those interested in joining the group can contact us on [email protected] or [email protected]. Current PhD students are welcome to join, and it may be possible to arrange PhD supervision for prospective postgraduate research students.

Our research interests span across the area of labour and human rights, including:

  • civil and political rights

  • socio-economic rights

  • Labour rights, precarious work and exploitation

  • Migration and the rights of people on the move

  • Structural injustice and inequality, including their impact on the enjoyment of labour and human rights

The group will explore opportunities to apply for external research funding and build partnerships with organisations and relevant stakeholders working on issues within our areas of expertise.
