The Open University Law Society

The Open University Law Society is the official law society for The Open University. Run by current students and alumni, we provide a forum through which students can socialise at our numerous events, and access a plethora of information and help regarding their studies and future careers in law.

Our news team publishes regular newsletters and articles relating not just to law, but to common affairs, politics, and the occasional satirical piece. The Society is also passionate about developing its members’ advocacy skills through mooting – offering many opportunities for members to attend mooting workshops and compete in national competitions. We have a very strong reputation on the mooting circuit, with teams winning national competitions most years.

All members of our committee can be contacted directly, and are keen to help members in any way possible. We have vital links within the legal industry to help members with their study or career goals, and aim to breach the gap between campus based universities and the distance learning structure of the Open University. We provide numerous opportunities for students to meet, mingle and enjoy each other’s company at events throughout the UK.

Membership costs £5, and all proceeds are fed back into the society. As all committee members are volunteers, dedicated to helping OU Law School students.
