Georgia Boyd (pictured) attended the Socio-Legal Studies Association (SLSA) annual conference 2026 just before Easter at the University of Sussex’s campus in Falmer near Brighton.
With SLSA hosting an annual conference since its founding in 1990, convenors delivered more than 30 regular streams this year, alongside one-off sessions addressing emerging themes and contemporary debates in socio-legal research.
Georgia presented a paper in the ‘Gender, Sexuality and Law’ stream at this year’s event which was from Monday 30 March to Wednesday 1 April.
She outlined her use of vignettes in sensitive research, highlighting their value in semi-structured interviews when discussing topics such as sexual assault. Georgia also reflected on her method of recruiting hard-to-reach participants through her personal Instagram and the ethical considerations involved. In addition, she addressed the ethical and methodological challenges of researching sensitive topics including rape myths, sexual assault and OnlyFans.
