Hakeem joins UN’s expert meeting on transitional justice

Hakeem Yusuf

Professor Hakeem Yusuf, who became Head of the Law School in April, wasted little time in showing his credentials.

The Professor in Global Law was invited as an expert of transitional justice by the United Nations Special Rapporteur in May. This expert meeting on transitional justice and the legacy of colonialism is informing the Special Rapporteur’s report to the 76th session of the UN’s General Assembly this October. This is on ‘The role of Transitional Justice in addressing the legacy of serious violations of human rights and humanitarian law committed in colonial contexts’.

Hakeem was also interviewed in June about the #ENDSARS protests against police brutality in Nigeria by the Cambridge Policy Shop – you can listen here (18 minutes onwards). This podcast series is from students at the University of Cambridge’s Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS).
