How good is your understanding of the legal profession? Have you ever doubted whether you will ‘fit in’ to the profession for any reason? Entering the law can feel intimidating for anyone, whatever their background or levels of confidence. Please come along and join our series of conversations with those in the profession who want to share their experiences. Don’t miss this opportunity to grow your confidence about how Open University students can succeed in the law.
Rachel Herron is a practising In-house Counsel and, since qualifying as a solicitor, has spent more than 15 years working in three global companies, operating across different industry sectors. Rachel will talk about the ups and downs of a day in the life of In-House Counsel and the challenges (and opportunities) of working within the organisation that you advise. Rachel will also discuss topics such as key skills for In-house Counsel and some Legal “hot topics” that businesses are having to get to grips with.
Hosted by Katie Jukes, Lecturer and Student Experience Manager, Law School

Whilst specifically designed for students studying Law, all students are welcome to attend, however there is limited capacity.
If you are a law student and have any questions or queries for the organisers, please post this on the forum here: S-UGLAW: Bringing Law to Life | OU online
There will also be an opportunity at the event for all to post a question in a Q&A box.
The interviewee, host and another member of the law school will have their cameras and microphones on; however, these will not be available to use for attendees. Please note that these sessions will be recorded and made available on the Law School YouTube page as well as other platforms.
