Part of the Bringing Law to Life series of events

How good is your understanding of the legal profession? Have you ever doubted whether you will ‘fit in’ to the profession for any reason?  Entering the law can feel intimidating for anyone, whatever their background or levels of confidence.  Please come along and join our series of conversations with those in the profession who want to share their experiences. Don’t miss this opportunity to grow your confidence about how Open University students can succeed in the law.

Mel was Head of Legal Affairs and Information Compliance and will discuss the role of trainee solicitors and legal researchers.  Mel will also consider the ups and downs of a day in the life of a solicitor, the challenges of the profession, including its pros and cons, whether there are age limits within the profession, what role diversity plays, how accessible the profession is to those with disabilities.  Mel is also happy to answer questions about how law plays an interdisciplinary role across sectors.

Hosted by Bryony Gilbert, Lectureer and Student Manager.

Whilst specifically designed for students studying Law, all students are welcome to attend, however there is limited capacity.

If you are a law student and have any questions or queries for the organisers, please post this on the forum here: S-UGLAW: Bringing Law to Life | OU online

There will also be an opportunity at the event for all to post a question in a Q&A box.

The interviewee, host and another member of the law school will have their cameras and microphones on; however, these will not be available to use for attendees. Please note that these sessions will be recorded and made available on the Law School YouTube page as well as other platforms.
