How good is your understanding of the legal profession? Have you ever doubted whether you will ‘fit in’ to the profession for any reason? Entering the law can feel intimidating for anyone, whatever their background or levels of confidence. Please come along and join our series of conversations with those in the profession who want to share their experiences. Don’t miss this opportunity to grow your confidence about how Open University students can succeed in the law.
Francine is a non-practising solicitor who has transitioned from being a legal professional to a legal academic. Francine will discuss the ups and downs of a day in the life of a solicitor, the challenges of the profession, including its pros and cons, emerging themes in the profession, how to achieve a work-life balance and how law pre-law experience can be relevant to a career in legal practice.
Hosted by Katie Jukes, Lecturer and Student Experience Manager, Law School

Whilst specifically designed for students studying Law, all students are welcome to attend, however there is limited capacity.
If you are a law student and have any questions or queries for the organisers, please post this on the forum here: S-UGLAW: Bringing Law to Life | OU online
There will also be an opportunity at the event for all to post a question in a Q&A box.
The interviewee, host and another member of the law school will have their cameras and microphones on; however, these will not be available to use for attendees. Please note that these sessions will be recorded and made available on the Law School YouTube page as well as other platforms.
