Part of the Bringing Law to Life series of events

How good is your understanding of the legal profession? Have you ever doubted whether you will ‘fit in’ to the profession for any reason?  Entering the law can feel intimidating for anyone, whatever their background or levels of confidence.  Please come along and join our series of conversations with those in the profession who want to share their experiences. Don’t miss this opportunity to grow your confidence about how Open University students can succeed in the law.

Frances is a solicitor and an Associate Lecturer at the Open University. Frances has worked for a London law firm, an energy company, for DEFRA and for an infrastructure company. Frances will talk about the ups and downs of a day in the life of a solicitor and the challenges of the profession.  Frances will also discuss emerging themes in the profession, how to achieve a work-life balance and consider how accessible the profession to those with a care experienced background.

Hosted by Wannette Van-Eg-Dom-Tuinstra, Lecturer/Student Experience Manager and Head of EDIA, FBL

There will also be an opportunity at the event for all to post a question in a Q&A box.

The interviewee, host and another member of the law school will have their cameras and microphones on; however, these will not be available to use for attendees. Please note that these sessions will be recorded and made available on the Law School YouTube page as well as other platforms.
