Suriyakumari Lane

Since September 2021 I have been teaching the law of Contract and Tort at level 2 at the Open University. From September 2023 I will be teaching the law of Contract.

I qualified as an Advocate in the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka a very long time ago, but after practising law for about a year, I came to England to do postgraduate degrees in Law, so that in England, I have been an academic lawyer, teaching law.

I applied to teach at the OU as there was a vacancy in the Contract and Tort module. I enjoy teaching at the OU as I like to support students who are keen on learning legal subjects, overcoming many challenges, such as combining paid work with academic study.
