Sam Woods-Peel

Sam is a qualified solicitor with experience in conveyancing, will and probate, and has a PhD in Maritime Law. She started tutoring law for the OU in 2006 and became a Student Experience Manager in 2021.

Aside from her legal career she has done lots of other jobs that have added to her skill set. These include Archaeologist, Usherette in a theatre, reading the local papers of the South West as a Press Reader, and six scary weeks working in a pasty shop.

She wanted to work with students so worked for three years at Sheffield University in Residence Life supporting students in halls of residence, before moving into full time teaching. She was a part-time student at the OU and finished her Open Science degree in 2022.

She has a keen interest in maritime archaeology, particularly how it interacts with law.
