Rachel Keane with family

I first started studying a Business Management Degree in 2006 and after completing 2 years I was in a rather toxic relationship, which thankfully ended, but I was behind in my studies and made a personal choice not to complete my third year. I started a career in Insurance in 2010 as a Claims Administrator for a Law Firm in Taunton, Somerset and after 5 years of hard work, dedication to the role, great role models and a supportive family and fiancé I was given a job in an Insurance Company in London.

In 2017, my Company sponsored to me to finish my degree, and I elected to complete an Open Degree finishing in Law. I worked long hours before and after work to study, including travelling for tutorials about an hour away from my home. I graduated in October this year with a first class honours.

So, 10 years after what was one of the most difficult decisions of my life and hardest times, I am now a Claims Manager at a London Insurance Company with a First Class Bachelors of Science and spend my time between my working role in London and my home with my fiancé and rescue German Shepherd in Somerset. Distance learning through The Open University made this possible.
