Professional biography

Since joining The Open University in March 1996, Bronagh has been involved in the Undergraduate and Postgraduate programme delivery within the field of Business and Management. Since 2006 she has been responsible for delivery and management of the globally delivered MBA programme which is supported through online tuition.

Commencing with a career in Accountancy, Bronagh has worked in Higher Education for almost 20 years, and prior to joining The Open University Business School was a Senior Lecturer (Accounting and Financial Management) with The South Bank University in London. She has also worked as an independent consultant to various sectors and clients in the area of management learning. Latterly, she has developed a passion for online learning, studying aspects of the pedagogy and applications for Information Technology on The Open University's Masters Level programme for Open and Distance Learning. She has moderated online fora and her most recent consultancy project is developing a Community of Practice for Foreign and Commonwealth staff studying on the MBA programme and bringing back their learning to the workplace.

Bronagh has published some articles on Corporate Governance, an early research interest. She has presented papers and workshops at internal conferences within the Open University, focusing on e-learning and retention and at external conferences on management development in relation to work-based learning.

She is part of the core team working on the launch of the Global MBA, with specific responsibility for aspects of delivery, including the recruitment, selection and development of tutors, student induction and support

Bronagh has a Masters of Business Administration and a range of other Post Graduate Certificates in Financial Accounting, Teaching and Learning within Further and Higher Education and on applications of information technology.

Research interests

Primary interest is in the field of teaching and technology and in particular E- learning, pedagogy and applications. This has been underpinned by recent Masters study in this field. Undertaken number of consultancy projects, including designing and supporting management development programmes for a range of public sector organisations (local authorities including Camden Local Authority) and private sector (including 3M N.Ireland). For a number of years I have facilitated Action Learning Project groups on a Leadership Development Programme tailored for Deputy Principals of FE Colleges in Scotland. I played an active part in reviewing the academic status and structure of the development programme.
