Law Clinic is shortlisted for prestigious pro bono awards

The Open Justice Centre’s Law Clinic, which offers free online legal advice led by OU students supervised by qualified solicitors, has been shortlisted in the LawWorks Annual Pro Bono Awards.

This is in the ‘Best new pro bono activity’ category with the winners announced at the Law Society in London on Monday 3 December.

This is fantastic news for the Open Justice Centre as the online law clinic is staffed by our very own law students, supervised by qualified solicitors. The free online advice sessions are designed to help the general public resolve their particular legal issue ranging from contractual disputes to clinical negligence, civil litigation to building claims, and consumer rights to small claims.

The awards evening is being hosted by the BBC’s Legal Affairs Correspondent, former barrister Clive Coleman. A vocal and successful campaigner for social justice, Tottenham MP David Lammy, is delivering the annual lecture. He has led the campaign for the ‘Windrush generation’ to be granted British citizenship and paid compensation, while also being at the forefront of the fight for justice for the Grenfell Tower fire families.
