Whilst the global transition to online has been under way for some years, the present moment has seen an increased urgency for organisations of all types and sizes to enhance their digital presence and to redefine their strategies to capitalise on the possibilities that digital transformation can offer.

This webinar brings together academics and senior practitioners to explore current thinking and practice on strategic digital transformation. Our practitioners will also provide unique insights on the move to digital in both business and in higher education.

Image of Dr Giacomo Carli

Dr Giacomo Carli

Giacomo Carli is Teaching Director of the Undergraduate Business Programme and Senior Lecturer in Strategy at The Open University Business School.

After visiting the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, he completed his PhD in Management in 2012 at the University of Bologna in Italy, where he was also appointed as a Postdoc. Giacomo also taught at Bocconi University. Giacomo has a work experience as a management consultant in strategic and organisational change projects in large companies and he is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Giacomo's research interests are in higher education institutions’ strategy and in innovative teaching.

Jane Roberts

Jane Roberts is Acting Head of OpenLearn, The Open University’s home of free learning. She looks after a team of around 20 people responsible for the production of all content on OpenLearn.

Jane has been with the OpenLearn team for almost five years, but her relationship with The Open University is significantly longer, having previously worked for the BBC producing broadcast content. She’s passionate about free learning, and providing opportunities for lifelong learning, regardless of individual circumstances.

Kate Pain

Kate Pain is Associate Director, Digital Strategy and Capabilities, at Astellas Pharma.

Kate works within the Established Markets region, which includes Europe, Canada and Australia. She embraces digital as a disruptor and is passionate about providing more convenient and seamless solutions for healthcare professionals and patients. Kate has worked both client and agency side within pharma for 13 years, and in partnership with large management consultancies as well as emerging start-ups. She recognises the value that different partners bring to the mix and sees shared knowledge as key to innovative change. Prior to joining the pharmaceutical industry, Kate was a journalist for Time Inc, The Independent and the BBC. She studied at the University of Sussex and the University of North Carolina, US, and has an MBA, with Distinction, from The Open University.
