The Open University Business Network and Business Perspectives Programme are here to help you. We want to share our insights into leadership and management to help your business flourish.

This Breakfast Briefing will be led by Hugh McFaul, Lecturer in Law at The Open University Law School.

Hugh is the public legal education lead for The Open University Law School’s Open Justice Centre. The Centre provides free legal advice and guidance to people and groups who may struggle to access appropriate legal support.

In this interactive briefing, Hugh will showcase Open Justice's use of digital innovation in teaching and research to support the development of student employability skills and to promote access to justice. He will provide insights to how the law school has used digital innovation to best support developing skills for our students to succeed in the modern world – innovation which could help shape your employees’ skills.

Delegates will be briefed on the development of an online legal advice clinic. This development is unique to the UK and allows students to provide free legal advice, under supervision of qualified solicitors, to members of the public. They will also be invited to explore a virtual reality application designed to develop law students’ professional presentation skills.

It is hoped that this presentation will provoke a discussion on how digital innovation can be best used to support undergraduates in developing the skills they need to succeed in the modern economy.
